Seminar on Ecotheology and Humanities from Methodology Perspective

Interdisciplinary research seminar for students on “Climate Changes Europe-2030 and Humanities” was held in May 2020. Lecturers and researchers of Latvian Christian Academy and Interdisciplinary Research Institute intrudeced the audience with the use and benefits of the innovative Integrative Theology methodology.

Latvian Christian academy in cooperation with EZA (European Center for Workers’ Questions, EC – Germany) hosts international seminar “Life-Long learning for Increasing Labour Participation and Inclusive Work-Life in the Baltic States against the Background of the Other EU Countries” will be hosted by Latvian Christian academy in May 21-23, 2020.
Key topics of the seminar:
Life-long learning in Latvia and Europe after Covid-19? Why life-long learning matters? Why European Commission has emphasized the issue in the context of formal and non-formal education? What are criteria for that type of education?
Experts in higher education and life-long learning from
Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia will be speakers at the seminar.

International seminar for students on “European Sacred Art Heritage for Social Europe of Hope”

An international seminar (online) for students “European Sacred Art Heritage for Social Europe of Hope” was hosted by Latvian Christian Academy in March 20, 2020. Art department students presented four reports which won special Award in the Competition “Best Research paper in 2019”. The seminar was attended by Klaipeda Art College (LT), Orthodox Academy of Crete (GR) with presentations on Ecology issues reflected in Art.

Conference for teachers at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane (“Elasticity of the Teenage Identity”) and ass. prof. Guntis Dišlers (“Application of the Narrative Therapy in Schools”) took active part in the conference for teachers from all over the country at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in October 25, 2019.

Conference of teachers ans social workers in Liepāja

Annual regional conference of teachers and social workers from Liepāja district was held in Liepāja city “Latvian Society House” in October 21, 2019. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane was invited as key speaker, the topic of her presentation was “Axiology and values in the context of communication”. The annual conference is unique due to its ability to gather professionals from various fields under one roof with Christian clergy willing to join their efforts and share their experience in the field. The conference was officially hosted by the Liepāja City Municipality.

Glocalisation congress in Cologne: Focus on Social Work Education

International Congress “Social Glocalisation” was held in September 19-21, 2019, in Cologne (Germany). The term “glocalization” describes mutual interaction between global and local initiatives in Social work research and education on a worldwide scale. The Congress gathered wide spectrum of specialists from Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, USA, India, Japan, Ukraine, Iran, African countries. The congress was addressed by Cardinal Tucson, well-known experts in Human rights, education professionals. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane presented “Initiative of Caritative Social work in Latvia”, causing great interest and willing to share and exchange contacts. More information about the congress here.

European Congress of Medical Rehabilitation (ESPRM) was held in Vilnius (Lithuania), May 3-5, 2018. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane participated with presentation “Role of Caritative Social work in the Holistic and Interdisciplinary Perspective of Rehabilitation”.

Conference of social workers “Family in Centenary of Latvia” of the Jurmala city was held in March 16, 2018. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane took part in it with presentation “Self-identity of man as precondition of Social work”.  

IXE think-tank group meeting in Krakow

Meeting of the IXE think-tank group (partnering with “Semaines Sociales de France”) was held in Krakow (Poland), in March 9-11, 2018. The group (members from 14 EU countries) gathers twice a year to discuss topical issues of the European social development with subsequent work on recommendations.
