Rector of ECA Skaidrīte Gūtmane – professor at Klaipeda University

Senate and Council of social sciences at Klaipeda University (Lithuania) voted for awarding rector of European Christian Academy prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane as partnering professor in social sciences at Klaipeda University, June 21, 2023. Cooperation with KU lasts already 10 years – prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane has taken active part in international conferences, presented various lecture courses, she is also vice-editor in chief of the Academic Proceedings of KU “Tiltai / Bridges”. The awarding event at the Rector’s office was attended by Prorector of sciences and studies prof. Sonata Mačiulskyte, Rector’s advisor Rita Vaičekauskaite, Dr. habil., visiting professor at ECA Elvyra Aciene. The Diploma was awarded by the Rector Prof. Artūras Razdabauskas.

Colleagues from Klaipeda University (Lithuania) visited Academy

Colleagues from Klaipeda University (Lithuania) – academic prorector prof. Sonata Mačiulskyte, prof. Rita Vaičekaskaute and prof. Elvyra Aciene from Chair of Social work visited the Academy. Several important questions were discussed: consortium for Doctoral studies in social work (in cooperation between the Academy, Klaipeda University and Lapland University, Finland); mobility of staff and students within the ERASMUS+ framework; lectures of prof. Rita Vaičekaskaute on social work methodology at European Christian Academy.

New master study program “Social entrepreneurship and social work”

The new joint master study program “Social entrpreneurship and social work” is developed in cooperation between partners of the international consortium – VID Specialized University (NO), Klaipeda University (LT) and European Christian Academy as coordinating institution. The first meeting of the interuniversities’ team was moderated by prof. Sonata Sonata Mačiulskytė (KU) and prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane (ECA). Development of the program envisages several steps. The networking platform “WE-THINK” was created for an experimental piloting course for the project. Prof. Elvyra Aciene from Klaipeda University – DrHC at Latvian Christian Academy

Honorary title Doctor Honoris Causa was conferred to Mrs. Elvyra Aciene, professor in Social work at Klaipeda University (Lithuania), September 25, 2020. Professor Aciene for long time was Head of the Social Work Chair at the Universitt. She has played important role in launching Social Work Doctoral study programme Consortium at Latvian Christian academy (in cooperation with EZA – European Center for Workers’ Questions), participated in international projects and promoted international perspective of Latvian Christian Academy. The Diploma was presented in a special open Senate meeting in September 25, 2020, via ZOOM. We praise and congratulate prof. Aciene with the award!

International Social Work conference at Klaipeda University celebrating 25 Years of the Department

In September 25, 2020, an International social work conference “Humaneness, Social Work, XXI century” was held at Klaipeda University (Lithuania), celebrating 25 years of Social work department. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane participated in the plenary session with the presentation “Client-focused Caritative Social work in the Risk Society Today”.

Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane visited Klaipeda University (Lithuania) as guest professor presenting “Innovation of Caritative social work” to both Bachelor, Master and Doctoral students in November 18-22, 2019. In a plenary session of the conference for Lithuanian social policy makers Rector presented “Innovation of Caritative social work” (November 21). The course was organized by Klaipeda University.
