SUMMER SCHOOL IN ICON PAINTING – IN AUGUST 2023!

European Christian Academy in AUGUST 14-20, 2023, organizes SUMMER SCHOOL IN ICON PAINTING to go through all phases of Icon painting starting from preparation of the Icon board until the final varnish of the ready painting. Summer School provides theoretical and practical basis for canonical Icon painting.
Date and venue: August 14-20, in Jūrmala (Latvia), Bulduri (address: Vienības prospekts 23), in European Christian Academy.
Training fee: 250 EUR + materials.

Students from St. Ignatius Loyola University of Applied Sciences

In April 10-22, 2023, seventeen students from St. Ignatius Loyola University of Applied Sciences attended intensive course to master piloting module “Audit of social servicess”, its goals and tasks. From Lithuanian side the course was managed by assist. prof. Egle Purvaneckaite and ass. prof. Laimute Anužiene. N

“Semaines Sociales de France” (IXE-Group) discussion

Think-tank discussion of the “Semaines Sociales de France” (IXE-Group) was organized in Vilnius (Lithuania) was held in April 21-22, 2023 on topic “What Hope for Europe?” Rector of ECA prof. Skaidīite Gūtmane is member of the think-tank group and she gave a presentation for the discussion.

Icon exhibition in Easter

During easter time, 2023, (April – May) an Icon exhibition was open for visitors at European Christian Academy. Icons were painted by both students and staff, visitors could oberve the icon painting (“writing”) process, take part in workshops lead by icon painter Olesya Aboliņa.

EZA conference in Brussels

International conference “Workers’ organizations as motivators of social innovations” organized by EZA (European Center for Workers’) was held in Brussels, March 21-23, 2023. Participants form European Christian Academy – Rector Skaidrīte Gūtmane and assist.prof. Guntis Dišlers took part in the panel discussion “Innovations and industrial future in the changing world”.

Calligraphy for incoming ERASMUS+ students

Beginning form March 17, 2023, students from abroad will attend academic masterclass in Iconography and Calligraphy (within the “Bible ARt” study program). The masterclass wil be run by DrHC George v. Durtanossky (Germany). Students will attend professional workshops, visit Department of Ancient Manusripts and Rarities at Latvian National Library, where they will do practical part of the masterclass. The course will last 3 months.

Discussion “What hope for Europe” in cooperation with the IXE-Group think-tank

On April 17, 2023, the “Chapel for Europe” discussion “What hope for Europe: New Insights on the Christian Contribution” organized by the think-tank IXE-Group (Initiatives of Christians for Europe) and the Jesuit European Social Center (JESC) took place. In discussion took part Clemens Ladenburger (IXE, EC), Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union, Arch. Noel Treanor and other official representatives of the EU.

EC-EZA conference in Brussels

EC-EZA (“European Center for Workers’ Questions”) hosted conference on AI and new forms and policy of employment, and minimal wages, March 21-22, 2023. European Christian Academy was represented by prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane, prof. Astra Danenfelte, as. prof. Guntis Dišlers.

Meeting of the Council for Cooperation Between Social Work Specialists at the Ministry of Welfare

Extraordinary meeting of the Council was organized in March 15, 2023 to discuss the manuscript of the “Dictionary of the terminology of Social Work”. Prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane and as.prof. Guntis Dišlers took part in discussion.

ECA WINS COMPETITION OF SOCIAL WORK PROGRAMS FOR WORK WITH ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR PARENTS

European Christian Academy won the competition organized by Jelgava city Social Services Center for social workers “Social work with different client groups.
