EZA seminar on Innovations and new Employment Trends in Latvia and the Baltic States.

The annual EC EZA (“European Center for Workers’ Questions”, Germany) seminar was held at Latvian Christian academy in June 8-9, 2017, titled “Quality jobs: From minimum wage to an innovation Economy and new employment Trends in the Baltic States in contrast to other European countries”. The innovations issue was analyzed against larger background of the European and Baltic States in general. Experts from Latvia and abroad participated – A.Altosaar (social analyst, expert, EE), prof. E.Aciene (Klaipeda Univ., LT), R.Civinskas (Vytautas Magnus Univ., Vilnus Lithuanian Confederation of industrialists, LT), M.Ēlerts (Senior expert, Innovation policy division of the Innovation Department, Ministry of Economics, LV), prof. G.Grīnberga-Zālīte (Latvian Univ. of Agriculture, LV), P.Krīgers (former Secretary General LBAS, LV), Dr. J.Osis (Riga city Municipality, LV). Also participants visited “UAV Factory” where unmanned drones are produced for the worldwide market; the company was awarded with the “Innovations award” in 2016. – The vivid atmosphere at the seminar testified to the creative use of both social and theological knowledge for analysis of various social challenges – a method for whicj Latvian Christian academy has been recognized by EC experts.
