Strength of the Academy lies in understanding of human problems and challenges from the perspective of Patristic anthropology. The knowledge is innovative for current situation of humankind and it has turned out to be necessary and effective, based on methodology. Antrhropology of Eastern Church Fathers is based on practice. This is approach is not offered by any other University, however, it is contribution of research and revelation of the Academy.

In June, 2025, the academic Master study programme “Bible Art” was awarded with 5 years (2025 – 2030) international accreditation by HCERES (HIGH COUNCIL FOR EVALUATION OF RESEARCH AND HIGHER EDUCATION, France) and “Golden Label”.
Offering academic education in Bible art, Church art and Icon painting, the study programme works for research in conceptually new direction – that of Iconography and Church art in general. The programme develops Latvian icon painting school based on canonical Orthodox Church tradition. Programme provides Bachelor Degree of Humanities in Arts.
This is the only academic study program for Icon painting in Europe with specialization in Altar painting, sacred graphics, calligraphy. Students receive opportunity to improve their skills in the Orthodox Academy of Crete and monasteries in Holy Land. Also unique module of textology studies (ancient schrifts) led by visiting professor George van Durtanossky (Germany, Macedonia) is integrated. Graduates from the program are employed by churches in Greece, Israel, Crete and, of course, in Latvia. They have successfully won competitions and have taken part in painting of frescoes in Nazareth, Israel.
Essential for the concept of the study program was participation of our teachers and students in archeological excavation in Israel in cooperation with the Rockefeller Museum, Israel, and Finnish Theological Institute, Finland.
Interdisciplinary discourse of the Study Program offering clustered study courses combined of several disciplines. Program offers narrative learning on European Sacred Art Heritage and European Social Agenda studies in unity.

Positive assessment and international accreditation of the study direction “Social welfare” and all its Bachelor and Master programs is accomplished. Also this program is accredited.

The profession is much required both in Latvia and abroad in Europe, and far beyond limits of Social work professional application.

Positive assessment and international accreditation of the study branch “Social welfare” and all its Bachelor and Master programs is accomplished. Also this program is accredited.

The study programme is evaluated as having innovative methodology – promoting phenomena of charity into Social work education. The programme was discussed with Pope Francis in His Apostolic palace (Vatican, Rome) in June 4, 2016. It is one of a kind in Europe.
The programme is focused on penetrating acquisition of forms and methods of caritative social work in times of change; special emphasis is put on the principles of social economy in the context of social work. These skills lay good foundation for further private entrepreneurship in the field. The knowledge is both required and innovative in European context.

- Qualification awarded: Leading social worker.
- Volume: 120 crp.
- Study duration: 2 years (full time), 2 years 5 months (part time), 2 years 5 months (part time distance).
- Requirements: first cycle higher education of porfessional higher education with qualification in the following topics: social welfare, health care, social and human behavior sciences, pedagogy and education sciences, humanities and law. Entrance exam.
In April, 2019, the the Latvian State Chapter of Orders awarded graduate from Latvian Christian academy Mrs. Ārija Martukāne with the highest Order of the State – the Three Stars Order. Congratulations! We are proud to be informed about achievements of graduates from our Academy!
Zanda Kalniņa-Lukašēvica graduated from Latvian Christian academy with Master degree in Caritative social work. She was board member of “Caritas Latvia” and “European Movement – Latvia”. Formerly she was in member of the Strategic planning and analysis board to the former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers, Deputy Chairwoman for Administration issues. Currently our graduate is Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament of Latvia.
