Concept of Caritative social work presented at the 2nd Forum of Latvian social workers

The 2nd forum of Latvian social workers was hosted by the recently built splendid Latvian National library in Riga, September 17, 2015. The Forum was attended by both practicioners and theoreticians of social work from Latvia and abroad and it was adressed by the President of Latvia R. Vējonis. The Forum was welcomed by L.Vilka (Riga Stradiņš University), addresses were presented by Chairwoman of the Comittee of the Social and labour issues, Latvian Parliament, Mrs. A.Barča, Rector of RSU prof. J.Gradovskis, minister of welfare U.Augulis, acad. B.Rivža and head of the Association of local municipalities of Latvia A.Jaunsleinis. Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane presented the unique concept of the Caritative social work implemented at the Academy (“Innovation of Caritative approach in social work with focus on anthropology”) – being the eldest form of social work (since 4th cent.), Caritative social work is succesfully translated in the modern-day European language of humanities. Prof. S.Gūtmane is the author of the concept of Latvian Christian academy.
