Lectures on Babylonian Talmud by prof. Haim Weiss (Ben Gurion University, Israel)

In February 13-16, 2023, Christian Academy in cooperation with Israel Embassy in Latvia, Ambassador Mrs. Sharon Rappoport-Palgi, organized lectures on Anthropologcial questions in Babylonian Talmud, the most important text of Judaism by world-famous judaist prof. Haim Weiss (Ben-Gurion University in the Negev, Israel) at Aula Minor of University of Latvia.
Lectures attracted professionals from helping professions – social workers, social pedagogues, religious scientists historians of culture, policy makers.
One week intensive course opened up possibility to discuss modern issue of human identity crisis. The discussions were held in a very welcoming atmosphere, clarified many questions of modern philosophy and history of reveleation given to Jews.
European Christian Academy has cooperation agreement with Ben-Gurion University in the Negev and Centre of Jewish Studies.

New book by ass.prof. Guntis Dišlers

Monograph “Towards the other Land” (“Uz citu zemi”) by ass.prof. Guntis Dišlers was published in July, 2019. The book deals with much-debated move of Latvian peasants from the Lutheran denomination into Orthodoxy in mid-19thy century in Latvia. The move is seen from various perspectives – economical, political, spiritual and psychological. Although the move is much-debated, it’s not been covered often in Latvian historiography. List of available literature in three languages is provided along with photographs.

Monograph on philosopher Isaiah Berlin by Dr.habil. Jānis Nameisis Vējš titled “Four essays on Isaiah Berlin” has been published by the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Latvian University, in 2017. Dr.habil. Jānis Nameisis Vējš ir associated professor at Latvian Christian academy.

ERASMUS+ cooperation agreement with KatHO University (Germany) signed.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Hülshoff and group from Catholic University of Applied Sciences of North Rhine-Westphalia (KatHO NRW) visited Latvian Christian academy in August 23, 2016, and the ERASMUS+ Interinstitutional agreement was signed between both universities, and cooperation prospects discussed regarding student and teaching staff mobility and research development.
