Two days seminar with participants from diverse Universities on Christian social work development.

European Christian Academy was considered by Christian Social Work Association as innovative for social work development in Europe. Among social work specialists and educators from Norway, Wheaton College (USA), EHB (Germany), CHE (The Netherlands), CHAT (Poland), Partium (Romania) will give reports on Christian work innovations and foresights. European Christian Academy will report on importance of sytemic knowledge in anthropology which comes from Judeo-Christian revelation and Church fathers in Patristics. Innovation which streams from “antique” sources has become in society of risk we live in of great importance for professional client-oriented social work development in the 21st century. Reports will be given by prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane, assist. prof. Guntis Dišlers, assist. prof. Dace Dolace. Mentioned teachers will take part in three workshops held in May 10-11, 2023, in The Netherlands. The conference is organized by University of Applied Sciences of Socoial Work (CHE) (The Netherlands). Two days together to exchange ideas, to network and to explore options for joint study programs.

EZA conference in Brussels

International conference “Workers’ organizations as motivators of social innovations” organized by EZA (European Center for Workers’) was held in Brussels, March 21-23, 2023. Participants form European Christian Academy – Rector Skaidrīte Gūtmane and assist.prof. Guntis Dišlers took part in the panel discussion “Innovations and industrial future in the changing world”.

EZA seminar in Gdansk

EZA seminar “Breaking new ground – efficient organisation and design of educational measures to create added value in the social dialogue” was held in Gdansk, December 5-7, 20919. The venue was chosen with purpose – the building next to the Gdansk shipyard witnessed historical events of 1970 and 1981 when Polish trade-union “Solidarnošč” was founded and social dialog as we understand it today started. Historical Agreement between the Communist government and “Solidarnošč” opened doors for independent trade unions in the then Communist country. Latvian Christian academy was represented by ass.prof. Guntis Dišlers.

EC EZA General assembly and Kick-off seminar in Aachen

General assembly of the EC organization EZA (“European Center for Workers’ Questions”) was held in November 28-29, 2019, Aachen Germany. It was dedicated to social changes related to Climate Changes worldwide (link to various EC documents here; link to EZA page here here. The Assembly and Seminar was attended by Rector of Latvian Christian academy prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane and assist.prof. Guntis Dišlers.

New book by ass.prof. Guntis Dišlers

Monograph “Towards the other Land” (“Uz citu zemi”) by ass.prof. Guntis Dišlers was published in July, 2019. The book deals with much-debated move of Latvian peasants from the Lutheran denomination into Orthodoxy in mid-19thy century in Latvia. The move is seen from various perspectives – economical, political, spiritual and psychological. Although the move is much-debated, it’s not been covered often in Latvian historiography. List of available literature in three languages is provided along with photographs.

General assembly in Copenhagen.

EZA (“European Center for workers’ questions”, Germany) kick-off seminar “Key areas of the European social dialogue” and General assembly of takes place in Copenhagen, November 30 – December 2, 2017. Latvian Christian academy is membering EZA since 2004 and Rector of LChrA prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane and assist.prof. Guntis Dišlers will attend the event.
